Times goes by very fast if you’re healthy have a family, wife and children and all lve each other. New times are different, especially in times of “new millennium generation.” What was important in XX Century nowadays has no meaning at all. I noticed that after my wife become gravely sick with breast cancer and died after two years of suffering, and I also become seriously sick with the lung cancer one year apart my wife. She passed away after two years of treatments and suffering. I’m still alive after very serious surgery and removal of my right lung. It’s was a miracle and good doctors’ care and especially Almighty God will that I’m still around. It passed more than eight year till I posted some interested information as I have been told by my friends and reader. At the time I was very good accordion technician, and become very well versed in making my own MIDI accordions, programming m own CPU-s that I made from parts bought in various places on internet. Now, after so many years and recovery from cancer, I’m eager again in small scale to relearn my skills and discuss about advantage of playing accordion while recovering from that awful disease. Only 3% of men that were inflicted with lung cancer survived up to 3 years. I survived because my cancer on the pipe leading to the lung had tumor that had non-small cancer cells. Otherwise, my prognoses would be null. I think that partially in my recovery the accordion played a very important role. While, I took little 25 treble keys, 3 bass accordion and begin plying, I kept forgetting about my life problems an the dreadful cancer that tried to kill me.
I remember, while three weeks after my wife passed way, and I myself barely standing went to Senior Citizen Center to talk to some older people to alleviate my loneliness and anticipation that my end is near, I noticed the old organ in the corner. I ask the supervisor, if I can try it since I use to play accordion and the keyboard I almost the same. I was very surprised myself how easy it was that I could play Christmas Songs, s nice that I was amazed at it myself. People who were in room started to praise me allowed and encourage to play so more. After, I returned home, I felt badly that I play so shortly after my wife passed away.
So, I went to local Roman-Catholic Parish Office t declare that I sinned. I was very surprised what ladies secretary working there told me. They told e that my wife is very happy in the haven that I brought happiness to the seniors in the Center. As I was recovering I was invited to play in Nursing Homes, day after day become stronger, thinking that I don’t play only for myself. Every time, now when I play little accordion, I dedicate at least nice melody to the Lord. I know for sure that Almighty God loves accordion music and shell provide place for good and honest accordion players in the place close to the Angels Choir. In my opinion the accordion in good hands provides most beautiful music in the whole Universe.
Enjoy your life through the accordion music.

Well.. credit to Usenet and the concept and implementation of Newsgroups, for allowing people to collaborate and stay connected through so many modern decades

here is Walter back from the dead ! what a pleasant surprise indeed... Well I am very happy to hear your life improved so dramatically...

more than the surprise of you still being here, I am truly surprised and pleased that you have finally come to see these things for yourself that we tried so many times and patiently to bring you to in the past... much credit then to this new lady in your life.

well then an accounting... and yes that was a LOT of effort to sort through the mass of materials and projects in your basement workshop... I went through so many cans and boxes puling out anything of value or a tool and setting it in your Son’s pile near the stairs...

ok, some parts and the saved keytops and such in a couple boxes I dropped off to our friend... your DeLuca project went to Joe, another repairman, who loves those older models and likes to fix them up.. I detailed to him the work and methods you used to refurbish the reeds, and gave him the raw materials you were using to rebuild the grillework and such...

much of the Electronic Parts went to a youth in Ohio studying electronic engineering who is also an old style tinkerer like our generation... a local hobby workshop here in the Greenbelt Commons, run for free by local old timers for area youth, received the excess Arduino boards and associated parts and some other odds and ends... the Rosewood Blocks about half went to a young maker of Ukelele’s... he does not sell them just builds for love and gives them to friends and such... some Rosewood went to an artisan (not musical) it was difficult placing it because of current laws and rules.

three times I found someone with interest in the Arduino Midi project accordion, but they all fell through...

the bayan went to a young Russian man who married a nice Violinist (from the Baltimore Symphony) who also plays accordion and teaches and is in our Maryland Accordion club... it was a pleasant reminder of home and something he could not afford otherwise

the case you built from scratch holds a young Students ¾ size lmh/4reed bass that I also gave him
(joe and I both have many accordions “out” in young hands at no cost)

of course I still have the Scandalli... took it to the Club once and told them your story and your joke about the “Warsaw tuning” as well as the accordion's history... played a lot of Italian music on it then and since, as that is what seems it is most suited for

it took about 3 years actually to place your stuff all into the appropriate hands... I absorbed all associated costs of delivery, shipping, etc. and everything was given at no charge of money.

I kept the Waxing stuff, your bellows forms, the black sheet, and I think the Dremel tool and bits are still here somewhere... your jars of Reeds are still here I think

if you wish to finish your Arduino accordion now, I can bring that back for you... also I recall you once said you figured out what was wrong with your attempt to use the Solton midi, so you could also finish that project if you prefer it, though it is old technology at this point

for parts and materials, if you send me a list I can rummage through my stuff this winter and maybe save you some money

yes, I really thought your Daughter would take my little refrigerator and you and move you into her in-law apartment space and that you had another year at most.. I actually stopped by your Wifes grave once partly to see if you were there too, but I did not look for you otherwise, as frankly the things you said to me last time pretty much was the last straw

but if you have really changed your attitude and the way you see things, I guess I can again “forget “ old words one more time

anyhow, your workshop excess, as you can see, has been well placed and scattered far and wide

ciao

hey Ike

we survive another year too...

wel i was kinda embarrassed bringing those spare parts to you
that time cuz you already had scads n scads of similar boxes n parts

lolz

my projects are still way behind schedule as always..
i need to repad the Dallape then it's ready for serious playing

i have a set of old Paolo reeds i want to re-leather
then swap into the Fisitalia.. maybe swap in another clean
set from this italian IORIO (acme) for the 442 set as well

there is one erratic reed developed on my prise Excelsior 960,
but i will just swap it out from a same era 911
(my backup MIDIvox)

this other 3 reed tone chambered Stroller
(actual model Tonaveri Ranger) is almost finished and i can
grab it and go.. still needs cosmetics

and i still havn't re-assembled the red Serenelli you
fixed the Basses for me on...

the little grey Hohner continues to play in Oktober..
your repair there also holding its own

oh, and i acquired a very nice Atlantic IV
(shutters intact) which i was able to successfully loosen back up..
it still needs a lot of reedwork... those plastic reedflaps suk
i just swapped one bass set out (also from the old paolo)
so it is playable but annoying for anything other than
full bore Polka and German... it totally amazed me how the
Germans were able to completely find new ways to do everything
the Italians did... but without hardly using a bit of Wood

happy Holidays if i don't get to swing past

ciao

By all means "Swing Past". And I don't need those parts you left. I
don't think they fit any of my 100 derelicts. About stopped working on
Atlantic IV after I fix and sell whatever ones i have if I live that long.

Thank Phil for very good job in placing the stuff that, you pick up from me after I invite to come to see me after my wife has passed way on November 11, 2012. I still have some very nice small accordions, that I would like to sell some day to somebody deserving, or give it away when times comes. Right now, I’m doing fine – thanks to Almighty God and excellent American doctors. It seems that I still need these accordions to for time being.
My new wife loves accordion music, and I enjoy to play for her as much as I can. When I was in Europe with her last Summer, I played on my small piano Paulo Soprani, 32 bass accordion with M/MM registers on family gatherings, picnic, and grills. People there love accordions music and enjoy all timers’ songs and melodies.

I still have few CPU-s boards for to do yourself retrofitting accordions for MIDI. Wll give away very chip for a person who is interested in Arduino programming and is able of making own MIDI. Especially Sanguino CC CPU 644p, that was top-notch in 2010 and was good do anything that very sophisticated MIDI. I will give with it a program that I was using on it at the time. The program must be adjusted in a couple of lines, since there were some changes in Arduio programming since that time, but a person who want to try it would not loose that lot of money for such an experience. Those CPU-s could be used for sophisticated burglar alarms for the big houses.
My sickness interrupted all my hobby work, and now I have other things to do.

Greeting and Best Regards to all old timers who still have enough strength to play and enjoy this wonderful world of accordions.

That is wonderful, Walter. Speaking of penance, tho I am not of a
religious bent, I think the accordion I am playing in the video was made
as a penance by Scandalli.
