Internal mic frustration

Hi there
I've been installing a single behringer dynamic mic capsule over the reed blocks
In my LA built Cajun accordions and they sound awesome , huge in fact I love the sound
So I tried a couple of years back to install 2 capsules in a 9 switch Hohner club
And the result was low output and feedback when you tried to turn it up to get any volume.
I've recently tried to have another try as I was told to try wiring each mic capsule to a 10k pot
Which resulted in feed back due to phase problem , the mic phase each other out and pick up noise from a distance so I wired 1 capsule back to front which cut down feed back and the sound is cool but still no output like my 1 row box's and if yo try turning up the volume you are back in feedback city. You can watch loads of zydeco YouTube clips where the 3 row is pumping but I just can't work it out it , very frustrating. I run my boxes into a small pa.
Is there a correct way to wire microphones so you don't lose so much signal?
And advice greatly appreciated.

Best regards
Roy

Are you trying to install tin-can mics? They are very hard to figure how
to make a good circuit for, because they howl like the Devil.
You said you had a good dynamic mic. Those two kinds of things are not
the same.

Hi Ike
No not a tin can microphone , you take a mid range dynamic vocal mic
Then you remove the capsule and mount capsule directly over the reed block
It's not a pretty accordion sound but it's the sound I'm after for zydeco.

Hi Roy,
Your best bet may be to use electretmics. They are very inexpensive, quite (low noise) and generally have betterfrequency response that mid priced dynamics. They require a 9 volt battery, andyou can use more than one mic on the treble and bass sides using an F.E.T.transistor as a mixer. The mics and mixer use very little current so a 9 volt battery canlast many weeks. The mixer can have individual volume controls so that you canbalance the level of each mic. My unit uses 6 mics on the treble side and 2 onthe bass side. There is no "howl" unless you're standing directly front ofthe speaker, facing it. (which is where you shouldn't be anyway). Unless you're standing behind the speakers, there's always a chance of feedback with ANY mic setup.

Hi Bob
Yes I have a similar system on my dino baffetti tex mex 3 but it's the capsule over the reed block
Sound I'm after for playing blues and zydeco .
Cheers

Hi Roy,
Be sure to shock mount your mic. Floating it on foam can work. As an option, you can surround the mic with open cell foam which will also work, but there could be some high frequency filtering. Actually, this can take away some of the harshness if you notice any, but for Zydeco you probably want a bright sound..
If you mount it directly on the reed blocks without shock mounting it, you WILL hear every click and so much stuff that you wouldn't ordinarily notice.
I hope this helps.
