Hi,
I'm Guenther from Austria, this is my first posting to this group. About
three months ago I figured out for myself that I wanted a new piano
accordion, an instrument that is lighter than the one I own, which is an
Excelsior PA with 37/96 keys and 4/5 voices. Here in Austria most
dealers have only Hohner and Weltmeister accordions and sometimes
Excelsior or Paolo Soprani. I don't like the Hohner sound, that's why I
chose Excelsior for my first new accordion about 5 years ago. My
Excelsior is a nice instrument, the sound is nice, but the keyboard
action is not as good as it should, it even has no wooden keyboard.
I figured out that for my new accordion I wanted a 34/72 instrument that
is light and has good keyboard action. First I considered buying an
instrument with 4/4 voices, but I found out that accordions with this
characteristics are yet to heavy for me, so I thought that 3/4 voices
would be enough for me. I decided that it should not be an Excelsior
again but from another maker, preferebly from Italy. I found a shop in
Austria that sells accordions from some italian makers, like Borsini or
Paolo Soprani. I tested a Borsini, but was not completely satisfied with
the bass sound. Another accordion was from BARO, a maker I haven't found
with google. It was a light instrument, but the keyboard action was like
the one from my Excelsior, so I didn't considered buying it.
Then I emailed every italian maker from the www.accordionlinks.com site
(about 20, I stopped counting) and asked them for offers on a 34/72
accordion with 3/4 voices. I also looked at older postings from
discussions from this list and finally I chose Alessandrini to be the
maker for my new accordion, first because of their remarkable price and
second because of the small weight of the accordion and third also
because of other positive statements from this group about this maker.
It took about three weeks from ordering to getting the accordion. Today
was the glorious day of receiving the package from Italy. And what
should I say: I couldn't ask for more. It's really the perfect
instrument for me. The sound quality and the quality of the keyboard
action is top. It has a powerful bass, like others on this group
mentioned, but I like it.
Compared to my Excelsior the keyboard action is way better. I have tried
an instrument from Serenellini last year (an instrument from a friend, I
could try it out for about an hour), that was from their top end, with
Cassotto and everything and compared to this instrument the quality of
the keyboard action and also the sound (if you leave the Cassotto sound
out of the game) from my Alessandrini is as good as from Serenellini.
Anyway, I can really recommend accordions from Alessandrini.
Thanks for reading all this, I just had to tell somebody about it.
