Hi came across this Accordion that says video on the front and it has 31 stamped inside. Can anyone tell me more information about this accordion?

Thanks

Video was a product line from Pancordion. I played one when I was a
kid. They were, for the most part, export-quality instruments,
although Pancordion had a factory in the US, which I visited as a kid.

As I remember it, the treble reeds were machine-made; nothing special.
I had one that was octave-tuned LMH with seven registers in the
treble. The treble switches were chromed and not marked.

The bass had four registers selectable by two toggle switches, again
unmarked, but there was an indicator on the top of the bass side to
tell you which combinations of reeds were selected. I'm not sure what
the "31" inside would indicate, but there was usually a model number
embossed into the celluloid on the back of the accordion and that
could be more telling.

There are people here who could probably give you more information if
they could see a picture of the accordion, but this is not a binary
newsgroup so posting a picture here would not be possible. Instead,
you could post the picture elsewhere and post a link to that picture
here.

I hope this helps.

That's interesting. I once had a Video accordion from the 1930's that
didn't say Pancordion. It was pretty good. Maybe Pancordion took the name.

Hello Ike,

At the time that my parents bought the Video accordion for me, early
fifties, Pancordion was making three lines; one under the name
Pancordion, another under the name Video, and a third under the name
Crucianelli.

Given the way Italian accordion manufacturers came and went and names
were sold, traded, etc., it's entirely possible that the Video product
was origninally owned by somebody else. For what it's worth, I vaguely
remember reading an interview with Faithe Deffner in which she said
that it was Pancordion's line at a time when she owned Pancordion.

On the other hand, I've seen pictures of what I assume to be older
Video accordions that did not have the grille design or other external
features that mine had.

Maybe somebody else can shed some light on this subject.

Most likely Pancordion would have been using the same factory the
Video use to be made in, at least for those.

hi Ike

hi Alan

Video is also a PLACE in Italy, and back in
the really old days as you know there were tons of
tiny little new accordion shops springing to life
all over Itasly, and often the town or region name
was on the front prominently

Faithe and i chuckled once over how most
people in the USA assumed it was a
reference somehow to something "visual"
when her thought while naming the extra "brand"
was in fact a "place" she had visited...

the line was created in response to her Dealer Network
being so well populated at the time, they needed some
"elbow room" to help prevent price wars in crossover
dealer regions... hence the older dealers had the "Pan"
while others were offered the "Video"

Titano and Titan also helped keep things spaced

ciao

Hi Ventura,

Remember me? This is Walter from New Jersey. Last time when we meet in person was after my wife passing way in November of 2012. May be you remember that she died of breast cancer and I was recovering form lung cancer a the same time. I was so despair that I became psychologically incapable to deal with this world.
You came to me and I gave you for free everything that I used for making MIDI accordions. I gave you also brand new 120 bass Russian 3 row button accordion. I was ready to give everything I had for free to anyone who came to me. I thought at that time that I’m very close to death myself. I was ready to go. I pray every moment to Almighty God to take care of my family when I gone.
Almighty had different goals and plans for me. He let me live another five years after removal of my right lung and very difficult and hard operation that lasted 6 ½ hour. Thanks Almighty God for letting me live a little longer. Thanks t help of Almighty I regain psychological strength and now looks like I’m free of cancer.
I tell you more when we meet again. I just want t tell you that I started enjoying my life more than ever before. I went to Poland three times already and remarried with a younger lady who takes good care of me. She loves accordion music, co much that I play for her very often on my 25/32 or 25/12 little accordions. I do not touch bigger accordion that 34/80 since every bigger accordion is to heavy for me. While being in Poland three times ever year since 2015 during Summer I play in many places. Accordion there is still popular but not as much when I was growing in 1950-ties. Now, I’m old guy granpa, but still have interest in making another MIDI accordion, since I have yet a few CPU-s that I did myself before my wife passed away and I become very sick. I would like to get back some of those switches and other small parts that I gave you, off curse if you still have them. I am ready to buy some of them from you, if you will be generous like I was at that time. Well? We live in new times. Today is morning of Thanksgiving Day. First I want to give thanks for Almighty God and let all the people of the World tell that He exists and take care of good people. I wish you to have healthy and nice Thanksgiving Day and also for Cindy your wife. Wish to all of my accordion friends the same thing. Play accordion and enjoy your life. I think many times that the accordions and willingness to play gave me additional strength to survive. God Bless you all! Best Regards, Walter Derlukiewicz
